About the University
Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur (Formerly HBTI, Kanpur) was established in 1921and has a glorious history and has always been at the forefront of technological developments and the growth of industries in the country since its inception. The Institute began as the Government Technological Institute, Uttar Pradesh in 1921. The Institute was renamed Harcourt Butler Technological Institute in 1926 in honor of the name of Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, the then Governor of U.P. Degree courses in Oil Technology were started in 1921, and Chemical Engineering was started in 1954 and after that number of undergraduate and post graduate courses were started. On March 26, 1965, it was upgraded from a Government Department statusto an Autonomous Institution. It was upgraded to Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur on September 01, 2016, by Govt. of UP. The University spreads across two campuses - East Campus (77 acres) and West Campus (271 acres) situated approximately 3 kilometers apart. The University provides a congenial environment for the holistic growth and all-round development ofthe students.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY
University offers distinctive study programs with its priority and thrust in imparting high-quality education in seven Chemical Technology branches, namely Oil Technology (Estd. 1921), Chemical Engineering (Estd. 1954), Plastic Technology (Estd. 1964), Paint Technology (Estd. 1964), Food Technology (Estd. 1964), Bio-Chemical Engineering (Estd. 1964) and Leather Technology (Estd. 1978). The School of Chemical Technology (SoCT) produced more than 15,000 graduates in these programs which cater to the industry and top-level management human resource demands at the National and International level. Alumni from the School of Chemical Technology are placed as CEOs/MD's of many top Companies across the world.

ABOUT INDIAN DESALINATION ASSOCIATION (InDA)
Established in 1991, the Indian Desalination Association (InDA) is dedicated to advancing the responsible utilization of desalination and water treatment technologies. Functioning as a neutral entity devoid of commercial bias, InDA plays a pivotal role in raising awareness and fostering enhanced collaboration among stakeholders. This includes user sectors, industries, academicians, policy makers, and program implementation agencies. As an affiliate of the International Desalination Association (IDA) and the Asia Pacific Desalination Association (APDA), InDA actively engages in policy advocacy and adopts global best practices. Through its annual conferences, workshops, seminars, and webinars, InDA not only cultivates skills but also facilitates interaction with small and medium industries, helping them address challenges in water and wastewater treatment, management, and associated environmental issues.
